The Great Paperback Giveaway of 2019

UPDATE: As of 12/14/18, the giveaway is closed.
If you entered and have not received an email from me, please let me know

Moving day is coming up fast, and that means one thing: downsizing. Or at least trying to shed a few pounds off the household goods shipment.

As an author, this means encountering the bizarre phenomenon of books being obscenely heavy, especially in large quantities. And since I try to keep a pretty good stock of all of my books in order to have them available for contest giveaways, conference sales, etc., I have... large quantities.

So, in an effort to Jenny Craig my book weight, I'm donating a couple of boxes, but I'm also going to give a bunch away to my readers. This is where you come in.

Here's how it works:
  1. Each reader may receive up to:
    1. 4 titles
    2. or 2 titles & 1 bundle
    3. or the Wilde's bundle.
  2. All books will be signed.
  3. The giveaway is limited to the titles and quantities listed below, and books are available on a first come first served basis.
    1. That being said, I know that time zones, connectivity, and free time are things, and it's entirely possible that by the time someone reads this, their preferred titles will be snatched up. If there is a title you really really really want that is already claimed, shoot me an email. The quantities listed below don't necessarily reflect the total number of copies in my possession, and we may be able to work something out.
  4. Some books may come with older covers that are no longer available. If you have a strong preference for a specific cover, please mention this in your comment (alternate covers may not be available).
  5. In order to receive books, leave a comment below containing:
    1. Your name (or at least a nickname)
    2. An email address
    3. Your preferred title(s)
    4. (optional) preferred cover if a book has been released with multiple covers
    5. (optional) alternate title(s) in case your preferred titles are taken.
  6. If you are unable or unwilling to use comments on Blogger, please email me with the information above.
    1. First come first served still applies depending on the timestamps on emails or comments. Emails will not receive priority over comments or vice versa.
  7. Claimed titles will be marked as quickly as reasonably possible, but they will not be real-time updates. Some books showing available may have been claimed.
  8. When the giveaway ends, I will contact you via email for a shipping address.
  9. P.O. boxes are fine. All books will be sent in early January via US media mail.
  10. Giveaway is not limited to readers in the United States.
Oh, and 5 randomly selected winners will receive a bonus book!

So let's get to the fun part!
  1. The Wilde's Series BUNDLE (set of 11 books)
    • 2 of 2 claimed

INCEL is now available!

So I dusted off my mainstream SFF pen name and added mainstream suspense to her repertoire, and now INCEL is available, written by Lori A Witt. Check it out!

Detective Damian Arruda thought his partner was just too distraught to accept his wife’s murder as a random act of violence. Then the devastated widower got too close to the truth, and now Damian is grieving his best friend. As his conscience threatens to eat him alive, he’ll stop at nothing to find the killer.

Special Agent Melissa Walker’s partner met a violent end as well, and his death is almost certainly connected. When she joins forces with Damian, the investigation takes them into the vile underbelly of the Internet: the incel community and its toxic forums full of misogynists who consider themselves “involuntarily celibate” and feed off each other’s vitriol and hatred.

As the pieces come together, there’s no denying the three deaths and the poisonous, cultlike community are part of a wave of murders, grisly assaults, and bombings. Damian and Melissa are running out of time to take the killers down before more innocent people fall victim—and before someone decides that one victim at a time isn’t enough.

This novel is approximately 125,000 words.

Health, Productivity, and Change

This is a post I've been thinking about writing for a while, but was really hoping I wouldn't need to. It might even be premature to post it now. I don't know. And maybe it's a little bit of oversharing, but I feel like it's better to overshare in this case than to cryptically vagueblog and make things sound worse than they are. So here it is.

I want to say upfront that I'm not burned out this time, and I'm not giving up writing. Y'all aren't getting rid of me that easily. I've promised some sequels in recent months, and those are still coming (including the two sequels to If The Seas Catch Fire, the F/F Anchor Point spinoff, and the sequel to The Master Will Appear, plus Cari Z and I are writing a sequel to Double or Nothing). There are several books in the finished-but-revising stage, and I am still writing.

Writing is still happening. I just foresee it slowing down a little. Maybe a lot.

To cut right to the chase, some medical issues are interfering with... well, basically everything in my life, but relevant to this blog post, my ability to read and write. If you're curious, the condition is Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, aka Pseudotumor cerebri. Basically too much cerebrospinal fluid. It's not currently being treated because I'm technically still in a bit of a diagnostic holding pattern because seeing specialists while stationed overseas means coordinating with the military, off-base civilian facilities, and translators. And let me tell you, you haven't lived until you've had to have a conversation with a neurologist through a translator.

Anyway. They've ruled out the life-threatening stuff (like a not-so-pseudo tumor), which is a good thing. The less good thing is that as a result of all this floaty brain nonsense, I've been dealing with steadily worsening vision problems, near-constant headaches, and occasionally blacking out for no earthly reason. Good days mean my eyes getting really tired really fast, and annoying but bearable headaches. Bad days mean not quite having a migraine, but feeling like I will at any moment.

So... you can imagine what this does to my ability to write. Reading for pleasure went out the window months ago (audiobooks are a lifesaver!!), and whether I like it or not, it's time to admit that writing is becoming a struggle. No matter how much I stubbornly insist it's not the case, my output is taking a hit. In fact, it needs to take a hit so I don't make myself extra miserable.

It may also start affecting my ability to attend conferences. RT and Euro Pride were the first cons I've attended since this weirdness started, and I could definitely feel a difference. They were a struggle in ways cons haven't been for me in the past. I'm still planning to attend the UK Meet and GRL, but after that, I'll have to play it by ear and see how I feel.

Hopefully I'll lock down a treatment plan soon (or at the very least once I'm stateside in 2019). Hopefully something will actually help. Hopefully this blog post is entirely moot and I get back to my normal life and my normal writing before anyone even notices I slowed down (and before the plot bunnies start chowing down on my skull).

But that's where it stands right now. I don't know if it will continue to get worse, or how much worse it'll get. I don't know if there will be drug side effects to contend with. Right now, today, all I know is that I finally need to admit to myself that I'm going to have to cut myself some slack when it comes to my writing and editing output, as well as my conference attendance. Again, I'm not stopping. Just slowing down. I'm working on using dictation software, but there's a learning curve there, so it's not quite happening yet.

So we'll see how things go. One day at a time, onward and upward. If you're waiting on something from me -- whether it's an email, a manuscript, or a release -- please be patient. I'm going a bit slower than usual, but I'm working on it! :)

GRL is almost upon us!

Man, I am terrible at blogging, aren't I?  Rest assured I have been writing words in places other than my blog, though. Specifically Word documents that eventually turn into books. So there's that. But blogging? Yeah, I suck.

Anyway. October starts in about 55 minutes, which means GayRomLit is like tomorrow. Okay, it's three weeks away, but it feels like it's tomorrow because Holy Ned you guys, it's almost time for GRL!!!

So, sort-of-on-the-eve-ofGRL, here's what's happening in the GallagherWitt realms:

GayRomLit

I'm not listed as an author, but I will be there as a sponsor. You'll most likely find me in the sales room (I'm bringing loads of paperbacks that I don't want to take home!) or in the bar. If we've never met, don't hesitate to come up and say hello! I don't bite, and I'll sign basically anything you put in front of me.  Also, don't miss the narrators' reading on....whenever that ends up being. There are some amazing narrators in the lineup, and someone might be reading from one of my not-yet-released books!

New Releases

I have two new releases in October!  On the 3rd, the third and final Skin Deep, Inc, book, Cover Up. On the 18th, Blood From a Stoner.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075VR98J8  https://www.amazon.com/Cover-Up-Skin-Deep-Novel-ebook/dp/B0746MG2G1

So basically a short paranormal novella with weed involved, and a military/tattooist romance with lots of angst. They're pretty different from each other, but they're both quite smutty!

Upcoming

In December, New Hand will mark the end of the Bluewater Bay series. It's always said to say goodbye to a series, but it's time, and hopefully Garrett and Jesse will bring it to a worthy close.

Speaking of the end of a series, January will bring the final installments of the Bad Behavior series, which I co-wrote with Cari Z. Reckless Behavior will be out January 1st, followed two weeks later by the last book, Romantic Behavior.

There's also more Anchor Point books coming. Four of them, to be specific -- the final installment will be released in July.

What?? Just series enders?? No!  Trust me, there are some new things in the works! New series, and new standalones. Maybe even some new co-writes with new co-authors. Stay tuned!

New Release: THE MASTER WILL APPEAR

Available now on Amazon!

Dr. Mikhail “Misha” Budnikov takes one look at fellow fencer Ryan O’Connor and instantly knows his type. The undisciplined hothead is all ego with no finesse and even less control. In short, Misha’s pet peeves personified. To put the arrogant kid in check, Misha challenges him to a sparring match, which he predictably wins.

Not so predictably, Ryan asks him to be a mentor and show him how to fence. Startled by the moment of humility, Misha agrees.

What begins as fencing lessons becomes something much hotter, and before they know it, Misha is giving Ryan an entirely different kind of education. Dominance, submission, pain, pleasure—at the hands of an older, experienced man, a whole new world is opening up for Ryan.

As the trust deepens and their bond strengthens, though, Ryan retreats because that sham called love left him jaded long ago. Cynical beyond his years, he’s not letting his guard down, least of all for a thrice-divorced man twice his age.

Now Misha has to find a way to crack through those defenses…or accept defeat and walk away from the submissive who might just be the love of his life.

This novel is approximately 120,000 words.

Re-releasing my Samhain Titles

At the end of February 2017, Samhain Publishing closed its doors. As a result, 28 of my existing titles reverted to me and have subsequently been re-released. Normally I treat a re-release the same as I do a new release -- put in on the Coming Soon page, add it to the "Now Available" part of my website, etc. With the sheer volume of titles in this instance, though, that would be impractical.

A few stragglers are still uploading, so some links may not work yet, but I'm updating them as they go through.

The vast majority have been revised slightly, if at all, with the exception of Nine-tenths of the Law, which has a newly extended ending. All are available on Kindle Unlimited and most are in paperback. Cover art is by the author except for Conduct Unbecoming and General Misconduct, which are by Garrett Leigh.

Also, a few books have been included in some new collections - Spicy, Triple Play, and Three - and those are listed below as well.

Available Now: At the Corner of Rock Bottom & Nowhere

My newest contemporary gay romance, At the Corner of Rock Bottom & Nowhere, is on Amazon! (the paperback should be live in the next few hours)

Blackjack dealer and stripper Adrian West has lived in Las Vegas long enough to be numb to beggars on the Strip. Their destitution is a sad, ugly part of reality in a city where people win or lose it all at the tables every single day.

So he’s at a loss to explain why the homeless man in the suit catches his eye. Why he can’t just keep on walking like he always does.

Former advertising executive Max Reynolds is a Las Vegas cliché. After a run of bad luck costs him his boyfriend, his job, and his home, he’s decided to go out with a bang—a week of high-rolling capped off with a peaceful overdose in a luxury hotel room.

When a last second epiphany keeps him from finishing the job, he’s ready to live again… but he doesn’t have a dime to his name. He has nothing.

That is until a stranger takes him in off the street. Max may have hit rock bottom, but now he has a glimmer of hope and an unexpected friendship.

A friendship that just might turn into everything neither man knew he was missing.

This novel is approximately 51,000 words.
