Six Sentence Sunday

Another contribution to the Six Sentence Sunday shenanigans...

As always, I'm contributing two snippets, one from each of my pseudonyms. For those not familiar with me, I write hetero erotic romance as Lauren Gallagher and M/M erotic romance as L. A. Witt.

First, the opening paragraphs of Starstruck, the F/F/M romance I'm working on (though I haven't actually settled on which pseudonym I'll use for this one):

If personal assistants in Los Angeles had a list of the least desirable employers, Serena Colburn, better known as “Snow”, would have been at or near the top. Now that she was getting married in a few months, she was even higher on the “do not want” list for PAs. Nothing makes a diva more insufferable than wedding planning.

As luck would have it, though, I didn’t have much choice. Snow’s fourth PA in as many months quit right about the time my employer—a high-powered executive who couldn’t book a plane ticket to save his life—dropped dead during a round of golf.

I needed a job, Snow needed a PA, and the price was right.

And from L. A. Witt, another nibble of Static, my urban fantasy/shapeshifter novel due out June 26 from Amber Allure:

“If whoever performed it was willing to do so without proper consent, then there’s a good chance it wasn’t done under sterile conditions,” he said. “Back alley procedures usually aren’t, so the risk of developing an infection, even if it looks clean at this point, is markedly higher than if it had been performed in a proper surgical environment. That, and there’s a significant possibility the implant is one of the unsafe black market devices.”

Ice water filled my veins. It hadn’t even dawned on me that the implant itself could be dangerous. “So, how do I get it removed?”

Want to play along? It’s fun and easy!
1. pick a project – a current WIP, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you’re published
2. pick six sentences
3. post ‘em on Sunday

  1. Starstruck - Ha, great opening to the story. I'm wondering why she's nicknamed 'Snow', though. Is it because she's icy, or the amount of drugs she possibly does?

Static - Now I'm very curious about what the implant is for!

    Great snippets! :-D

Great snips, but still missing my moody vampire (yes, I will keep bugging you about that - probably until I have the book in my dirty little hands)
