This week, a short paragraph from my work-in-progress, For The Living, where we find Jay at his wife's funeral:
Want to play along? It’s fun and easy!It was one Misty would have liked. Simple, unadorned, the same shade of purple her hair had been at one time. God, my mother-in-law had hated that hair color back then, but looking through the available urns the other day, she’d sniffed and said, “Misty had her hair colored like that once, didn’t she? When the two of you met?”
I’d nodded, and we both had a hard time keeping it together afterward, so that had to be the urn. It was just so…Misty.

Love the Urn, Lauren. It's as individual as I'd guess Misty had been.
ReplyDeleteA bittersweet memory for him then?
ReplyDeleteThat kind of detail, the hair color and how it relates to the urn, is what makes characters and scenes so realistic. I love it. Great six, Lori.
ReplyDeleteAw, I just love this, especially because it says so much about all three characters. Great job!
ReplyDeleteVery descriptive and well done 6!
