The countdown begins... and the author becomes scarce.

T-minus 26 days until I leave Nebraska forever. Not that I'm counting.

Naturally, this means we've reached the frantic period where 11,000 things need to be done so that another 27,000 things can be done. We've planned ahead, of course, and managed to knock out quite a bit. I'm still kind of floored by the sheer volume of stuff we've removed from the house in the last two weeks. I literally donated more clothing than I kept. It's liberating to get rid of that much debris, but man it was a lot of work.

I've also gone through my extensive library and divided my books into "storage" and "Spain." I swear, choosing between books is like choosing between kittens. I WANT TO TAKE THEM ALL. But...space. So two bookcases worth of books are on their way to a storage unit, while the remaining six bookcases worth are coming with me. Hey, it's a 25% reduction. Don't judge me.

So that's a handful of things down, and 10,995 to go.

I know, really exciting, isn't it?

And of course, in the midst of all of that, I'm still writing. Two books will be finished before the end of the month, lest I incur the wrath of my editors. Between them, that means probably 40,000 words to go.

So, with all of that being said, my internet time (not to mention headspace) is getting a bit limited. I will be somewhat scarce on most forms of social media until I get settled into Spain in early 2015. This blog will probably be pretty quiet, but, well, that's how it's been for most of 2014, so... LOL

Of course I'll still be around, and I'll still be tweeting/posting on Facebook, but there will likely be days where I'm completely MIA. If you send me an e-mail or an @ message on Twitter, expect the response to take a little longer than usual (possibly up to a week). Or you might catch me when I'm at my desk and get a quick -- if brief -- response.  This does not mean I don't want to hear from fans, I promise!! I love hearing from y'all, and I do read messages as soon as they come in. It's just response times that will be a little jumbled for a bit while I get my life out of its holding pattern and all of my belongings across the Atlantic.

TL;DR - I'll be around, but sporadically over the next 3-4 months.

Thank y'all for being patient! I promise, even if I'm quiet, there are books in the works that will be unleashed on the world in 2015 -- stay tuned!

  1. I wish you all the best, even for seasoned movers, moving is a pain. Good for you on all the purging, we're in the midst of that ourselves. Best of luck!! <3333
