Shiny New Cover Art: From Out in the Cold

Time for some new cover art!  Here is From Out in the Cold, which will be out December 4th from Loose Id:

Neil Dalton’s foundation is already cracking. Grief, guilt, and PTSD have ruled his life since a terrible crime tore his world apart last year, and he’s dreading a holiday visit with the family he simultaneously needs and resents. Then someone from his past shows up and rattles that shaky foundation right out from under him.
First a war nearly destroyed Jeremy Kelley. Then his family threw him out when he needed them the most, and now he’s barely holding on emotionally. He spends his last dollar to get to Chicago and prays his former best friend doesn’t leave him out in the cold.
Together, Neil and Jeremy spend the holidays with Neil’s family in their hometown of Omaha. They struggle to deal with families, flashbacks… and feelings that haven’t even begun to fade since their last failed attempt at more than friends. As they try to repair their fractured psyches and rebuild damaged bridges, they rely on each other more than ever, but they can’t deny the mutual attraction that’s existed since before they were both emotionally battered and scarred.  If they couldn’t make it work back then, how in the world can they pull it off now?

Cover Art: The Left Hand of Calvus

First, I know I've been uber-quiet on both my blogs lately. I've been scrambling to finish a few things in between recovering from this pneumonia that has been kicking my butt for the last few weeks. I'm finally back on my feet, and the backlog is coming down. Hooray!

And...I have new cover art!  Behold, The Left Hand of Calvus, due out in November from Riptide Publishing as part of the Warriors of Rome collection (which is currently available for pre-order both individually and as a collection):

Former gladiator Saevius is certain fortune’s smiling on him when a Pompeiian politician buys him to be his bodyguard. But then his new master, Laurea Calvus, orders Saevius to discover the gladiator with whom his wife is having an affair. In order to do that, Saevius must return to the arena, training alongside the very men on whom he’s spying. Worse, he’s now under the command of Drusus, a notoriously cruel—and yet strangely intriguing—lanista.
But Saevius’s ruse is the least of his worries. There’s more to the affair than a wife humiliating her prominent husband, and now Saevius is part of a dangerous game between dangerous men. He isn’t the only gladiator out to expose the Lady Verina’s transgressions, and her husband wants more than just the guilty man’s name.
When Saevius learns the truth about the affair, he’s left with no choice but to betray one of his masters: one he’s come to fear, one he’s come to respect, and both of whom could have him killed without repercussion. For the first time in his life, the most dangerous place for this gladiator isn’t the arena.

Cover Art: Who Compels My Strength, Switch Anthology

Apparently I completely neglected to post cover art for the Switch anthology. Now that I have art for the individual release of my story from that anthology, Who Compels My Strength, I figured it's a good time to make up for that lapse in posting.

So here is the artwork for the entire anthology, which will be available in September:

And here is the artwork for Who Compels My Strength, which will be available on its own in November:

I swear, cover art never loses its novelty. I still get all "squeeeee" when I get some, especially when it's THAT awesome.

COVER ART: Where Nerves End

Hooray! I now have cover art for Where Nerves End! This is the first book in the Tucker Spring series, which I'm writing with Marie Sexton and Heidi Cullinan.  Keep an eye on my site, the official Tucker Springs website, and Heidi and Marie's sites for information about book #2, Second Hand.

Welcome to Tucker Springs, Colorado: Population, 70-something-thousand. Home to beautiful mountain views, two respected universities, and a ridiculously high cost of living.
Jason Davis can handle a breakup. And an overwhelming mortgage. And a struggling business. And the excruciating pain that keeps him up at night thanks to a shoulder injury. Handling all of it at once? Not so much. When his shoulder finally pushes him to a breaking point, he takes a friend’s advice and gives acupuncture a try.

Michael Whitman is a single dad struggling to make ends meet. When a mutual friend refers a patient, and that patient suggests a roommate arrangement to alleviate their respective financial strains, Michael jumps at the opportunity.

Living together would be easy if Jason wasn’t so damned attracted to Michael. Good thing Michael’s straight, or the temptation might just be too much.

Well, their mutual friend says Michael is straight…
Where Nerves End will be available from Amber Allure on June 3.

A bunch o' news...

It's been a pretty exciting day here in Omahaland, and there's load o' stuff to share with my lovely readers. :D

First, I'm pleased to announce that Cold Feet in Hot Sand, a M/F novella, has been picked up by Carnal Passions. Release date is TBA.

Second, new cover art! New excerpt! New blurb! New...genre?

Why yes, a new genre. Here is cover art for my first lesbian story, an erotic short called What This Woman Wants, due out the first week of April from Carnal Passions:

Beth loves Naomi, but something’s missing, and every time she’s suggested it, Naomi’s refused. Now Beth’s starting to wonder if she’s going to have to choose between the girl she loves and a fully satisfying life in the bedroom.

But tonight, Naomi’s got a little surprise for Beth…

A short excerpt is available here.

And last but not least, the part that's had me bouncing off the walls and completely non-productive since about 11 o'clock this morning: I'm thrilled to announce that Static is a finalist in two categories for this year's Lambda Literary Awards!

It's a finalist in the Transgender Fiction category as well as the LGBT SciFi/Fantasy/Horror category, and yes, when I got the e-mail, I may have made some incredibly undignified noises that scared my cat. I regret nothing. In related news, this also marks the first time in my life, to my knowledge, that my name has appeared on the Entertainment Weekly website. That may have also resulted in some undignified, cat-terrifying sounds. Don't judge me.

Some new cover pretties...

Two new pieces of cover art! First up is the second Tooth & Claw Book, The Healing & The Dying (no blurb yet -- that'll be along soon):
The Healing & The Dying will be out in July from Samhain.

And second is my upcoming April release from Amber Quill, For The Living:

For the last year, Jay Warren has struggled to find the nerve to tell his wife he’s gay. He’s ashamed of hiding it all this time and he doesn’t want to hurt her, so every time he gets the chance to tell her, he freezes up. The guilt has been almost unbearable, but when his wife dies suddenly, Jay’s conscience threatens to eat him alive.

Funeral director Scott Lawson deals with the bereaved every day of his life, and he’s also all too familiar with the inside of the closet. He offers Jay some much-needed compassion and understanding, and from that connection comes a friendship that quickly—perhaps too quickly—turns into something more.

But are grief, guilt, and loneliness the only things tying them together? Or will Scott get tired of being used as an emotional crutch before Jay realizes what he has?

COVER ART: Where There's Smoke

I am so in love with this cover art it isn't even funny. April Martinez, I am prostrating myself before you:

Anthony Hunter wonders what the hell he’s gotten himself into when he agrees to manage an unproven candidate’s campaign for governor of California. As soon as he meets the gorgeous, charismatic—and married—politician, attraction gives Anthony’s rock-solid professionalism a run for its money, and Anthony knows he’s in way over his head.

Jesse Cameron doesn’t like the idea of putting himself out there as a happily married, wholesome candidate, but his retired senator uncle insists it’ll give him an edge over a challenging rival. The only problem is that Jesse’s marriage is over, existing only to maintain his heterosexual façade. Oh, and there’s that minor detail about his undeniable attraction to his smoking hot campaign manager. Or the fact that the attraction is very, very mutual.

Before long, temptation explodes into a sizzling, secret relationship, but under the microscope of the media and the relentless scrutiny of the voting public, Anthony and Jesse can only keep their secret for so long. And this is one scandal a campaign won’t survive…

Where There's Smoke will be out Feb 21 from Loose Id LLC.

Cover Art: Noble Metals and Search Me

Two pieces of lovely cover art today!

One is for Noble Metals, my first steampunk story:

Ever since he gambled away his chance to make it to Dawson City during the Klondike Gold Rush, Robert Belton has been stranded in Seattle working as a prostitute. When an attractive customer carrying a mysterious wooden box comes into the brothel in search of a bed for the night, Robert’s more than willing to oblige. When he learns his customer is also looking for a crew to help him haul provisions to the gold fields in the frozen north, Robert jumps at the chance and volunteers.

Dr. John Fauth is only looking for one thing in Dawson City, and it isn’t gold. He needs platinum for his semiconductor research, and if he doesn’t find it in the Klondike, the university that employs him will be more than happy to redirect their funds to more profitable scientists. Just getting to the gold fields is a grueling, dangerous journey, especially when a competitor will stop at nothing to get his hands on an invaluable device in John’s possession.

As they fall for each other out on the bitterly cold trail, John and Robert may just find themselves with more to lose than they could ever gain in the gold fields of the Yukon Territory.
The second is Search Me, which is the third book in the Cover Me series:

In Cover Me, Detective Andrew Carmichael and paramedic Nick Swain barely escaped Nick’s delusional stalker with their lives. Now, months later, the physical scars haven’t quite healed, and neither have the emotional ones. Lingering guilt and resentment threaten to tear their relationship apart, but Andrew isn’t ready to give up. He’s nearly lost Nick once, and he’s not giving him up this time without a fight.

In a last ditch effort to keep them together, Andrew suggests a weekend away, but is that enough time to find a reason to keep their relationship alive? Or is it time to let Nick walk away?

Search Me will be out December 7th, and Noble Metals will be out in January 2012, both from Carnal Passions.

Cover Art: The Given & The Taken

Just received cover art for book #1 of the Tooth & Claw series, The Given & The Taken:

Their bond could be the death of them all.

After pleading his case to his wolf clan’s Elders, Levi is granted the right to bond with Ian, his male human lover, on one condition: they must spend one year apart. Then Ian must use only their spiritual connection to find Levi, or the deal is off.

Tracking down his lover is easy for Ian, but Levi isn’t prepared for the changed man who finds him.

The agony of separation was too much for Ian. In a moment of weakness, he reached out—to a vampire. Now he’s a vampire himself, and Levi’s devastation—and rejection—is like a stake to his heart. But it’s nothing compared to the fury of the clan that wants Ian brought to justice for desecrating their most sacred ritual.

Afraid for Ian’s safety, Levi puts the pain aside and races to get to Ian first, but he faces unexpected competition: Darius, Ian’s maker. When they come together, all hell breaks loose, Ian is on the run…and the only way Levi and Darius can save the man they love is to work together.

If they don’t kill each other first.

Warning: Contains two vampires and a werewolf who really, really, really want to hate each other. Except when they want each other. And have violent, sweaty, angry sex with each other. But they still hate each other. Mostly.

The Given & The Taken will be available from Samhain Publishing on January 3, 2012.
