Six Sentence Sunday

Another contribution to the Six Sentence Sunday shenanigans...

I'm contributing two this week, one from each of my pseudonyms. For those not familiar with me, I write hetero erotic romance as Lauren Gallagher and M/M erotic romance as L. A. Witt.

From Lauren Gallagher, a snippet of Damaged Goods, a contemporary erotic romance due out from Loose Id in June:

Did it ever get better?

Michael and I had married right out of high school, and jumping into the adult dating world in my late twenties had been a rude awakening. One that hadn’t presented me with a hell of a lot of hope. If I could connect with someone enough to even get a date out of it -- meaning he didn’t balk at the fact that I had children -- then something happened, or didn’t happen, to make the date a dud. Every date left me wondering why the hell I bothered anymore.

And lately, to frustrate me just a little more, every date, every goodnight kiss cooling on my lips, every empty promise to call me, every one night stand riding off into the sunset, had as its backbeat the rhythmic banging of a phantom headboard against a pastel wall beneath a bland watercolor painting.

From L. A. Witt, a little sneak peek of Out of Focus, my M/M/M BDSM novel due out from Samhain in August:

“You ought to take a picture of him like that. I mean, look at him.” Jordan nodded toward me. “All in black, grinning like the bastard lovechild of the devil and the Cheshire cat, surrounded by…” A sharp wave to indicate the d├ęcor. “It’s like Satan himself wandered into a Pottery Barn advertisement.”
Want to play along? It’s fun and easy!
1. pick a project – a current WIP, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you’re published
2. pick six sentences
3. post ‘em on Sunday

  1. "...the bastard lovechild of the devil and the Cheshire cat..." Holy Wow!

And then, "rhythmic banging of a phantom headboard..."

Woot! Fantastic sixes. Your imagery in both is so good I want to be you when I grow up...

  2. The first excerpt is filled with emotion. Great work!

I love the description in the second. :)

  3. I can feel her frustration in excerpt one and two was priceless!

  4. Ooh, we get two SSS for the price of one! Love the first one, great imagery.

The second one - briliant line about the 'lovechild'.

    Great sixes!

  5. That first one really, really resonated with me. I loved both.

  6. Very emotional first one, and very descriptive second one.

  7. Loved the description in snippet two. :)
