NOW AVAILABLE: Roped In (written with Marie Sexton)

So Marie Sexton and I have joined forces, and the result is a kinky little contemporary cowboy novella called Roped In. The book is available now from Amber Allure, and will be on sites such as Amazon and AllRomance soon.

Graham and his roping partner Jackson have ruled the rodeo scene for ten years running, but lately, Graham’s heart isn’t in the game. He’s tired of the bruises, the cowboy mentality, and the animal rights activists who picket every event. And then there’s Jackson.
Graham and Jackson have been friends since they were boys. But ever since their drunken sexual encounter the year before, things have been awkward. Graham’s accepted that he might be gay, but no matter how attracted he is to other men, he always panics and runs when the clothes start to come off.
Then Graham has a run-in with one of the rodeo protesters, and everything changes. Kaz is young, idealistic, and sexy as hell. And Kaz has an idea for getting Graham past his nerves and into bed.
All they need is a bit of rope.

NOW AVAILABLE: Covet Thy Neighbor and Test Drive

Two new releases this week!!

First, Covet Thy Neighbor, book #4 in the Tucker Springs series, is available from Riptide Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, AllRomance Ebooks, and Rainbow Ebooks.
Opposites attract, but heaven help these two.
Tattoo artist Seth Wheeler thinks he’s struck gold when Darren Romero rents the apartment across the hall. The new guy is gorgeous, witty, and single, plus he’s just the right blend of bold and flirtatious. Perfect.
Except then Darren reveals that he moved to Tucker Springs to take a job as the youth pastor at the New Light Church. Seth is not only an atheist, but was thrown out by his ultra-religious family when he came out. He tends to avoid believers, not out of judgment but out of self-preservation.
But Darren doesn’t give up easily, and he steadily chips away at Seth’s defenses. Darren is everything Seth wants in a man . . . except for that one massive detail he just can’t overlook. Is Darren’s religion the real problem, or is it just a convenient smoke screen to keep him from facing deeper fears? It’s either see the light, or risk pushing Darren away forever.

Also, Test Drive, a contemporary short story, is available from Amber Allure. Additional links will be added here as they are available. This story is part of the Office Affairs Amber Pax, and can be purchased individually or along with the other stories by Heidi Champa, Christiane France, Sean Michael, and Anne Brooke here.

Sean Waters is down on his luck thanks to the economy, and winds up working for his domineering father’s car dealership. It’s not the greatest job, but it’s a paycheck. The only problem? He’s got a wicked crush on the general manager, Jackson Shaw.
When Jackson suggests a drive in one of the brand new sports cars, Sean has no idea it’s not the car Jackson really wants to take for a spin.
They both need this job, though, and the boss isn’t keen on employees getting involved with each other. But it’s just a lusty little crush anyway, so they can move on and pretend nothing ever happened.
Can’t they?

NOW AVAILABLE: Something New Under the Sun, The Mayfield Speakeasy

Two releases this week!

First up is Something New Under the Sun, the sequel to A Chip In His Shoulder, available from Riptide Publishing.  Also available on Amazon, AllRomance, Rainbow Ebooks, and Barnes & Noble.
Liam Lansing is heir to a prominent family of bio-modified vampires. That is, until he chooses the wrong lover and is cast down to the Gutter to scrape for his life.
Daniel Harding is heir to Cybernetix and a prince of the corporate Sky. That is, until his ideology drives his father to put a price on his head, forcing him into the Gutter.
But Daniel and Liam won’t vanish meekly into the smog. Together, they plan to rip open the hidden corruption that runs the Sky—for vengeance, for justice, and for hope. They strike against the corporations in a daring raid. When everything goes wrong, Daniel must betray his core beliefs to save the man he loves and protect his dangerous secret. Only through courage in the face of death—or worse—might he and Liam change the world they live in and create something new under the sun.
Also, the Something New Under the Sun blog tour begins today. Comment to win a book off my backlist plus a $10 Riptide Publishing gift card!  Dates and info here.

Second is The Mayfield Speakeasy, a short Noir-themed novella as part of the NOIR Pax from Amber Allure. Can be purchased individually, or buy it here as a group with stories by DJ Manly, Lynn Lorenz, AJ Llewellyn, and Vivien Dean. Additional links will be added to my website as they're available.

Walter Mayfield has his hands full. He’s trying to keep the peace between his brothers, but at least the cops don’t bother him much about his illegal speakeasy. After all, the place is frequented by members of two volatile gangs, and as long as Walter can keep them from killing each other, the cops leave him alone.
That is, until Detective Joe Riordan comes through the door. But Joe ain’t interested in what’s being poured. He’s got three dead bodies, and all three of them are connected to one of Walter’s brothers.
Walter keeps the detective away from the speakeasy and cooperates as best he can with the investigation. Trouble is, he’s taken a whole different kind of interest in the detective. An interest that’s very mutual.
But no matter how much Joe and Walter like each other, the investigation threatens to disrupt the fragile peace in the Mayfield Speakeasy as well as tear apart the Mayfield family. And there’s also still a murderer on the loose, and Joe and Walter need to catch him—or her—before another body turns up...

NOW AVAILABLE: Nothing of a Son

Nothing of a Son is now available from Amber Allure! This fantasy novella is part of the Forbidden Liaisons Amber Pax, along with stories by A.J. Llewellyn, Carolina Valdez, Angel Martinez, and D.J. Manly --- the stories can be purchased individually, or together on the Amber Allure website.

When a storm forces traveling soldier Daedalus to seek shelter, a wealthy duke takes him into his home. The only condition? Stay away from the duke’s daughters.
But the duke said nothing of a son...
And when Daedalus meets Rauman, the two men can’t help but succumb to their mutual attraction...even if they’ll both be hanged if anyone finds out...

Six Sentence Sunday - Nothing of a Son

Sunday again already? Wow.

Today, a little snippet from my newest release, Nothing of a Son, where Daedalus, a traveling soldier who is staying with a nobleman during a storm, has just laid eyes on the duke's son, Rauman:

No son of a duke would ever look twice at a man, not if he knew what was good for him. Any soldier who engaged in such perversion would have been sent to the front lines without a shield. Or, now that the war was over, hanged. Maht had no reason to warn me about his son.
A night in the same house as a man that striking. Gods help me, I’d have been safer riding into the storm.

Want to play along? It’s fun and easy!

NOW AVAILABLE: Where Nerves End (Tucker Springs Book #1)

The first book in the Tucker Springs series, Where Nerves End, is now available from Amber Allure. Keep an eye out for book #2, Second Hand, by Marie Sexton and Heidi Cullinan!
Welcome to Tucker Springs, Colorado: Population, 70-something-thousand. Home to beautiful mountain views, two respected universities, and a ridiculously high cost of living.
Jason Davis can handle a breakup. And an overwhelming mortgage. And a struggling business. And the excruciating pain that keeps him up at night thanks to a shoulder injury. Handling all of it at once? Not so much. When his shoulder finally pushes him to a breaking point, he takes a friend’s advice and gives acupuncture a try.
Michael Whitman is a single dad struggling to make ends meet. When a mutual friend refers a patient, and that patient suggests a roommate arrangement to alleviate their respective financial strains, Michael jumps at the opportunity.
Living together would be easy if Jason wasn’t so damned attracted to Michael. Good thing Michael’s straight, or the temptation might just be too much.
Well, their mutual friend says Michael is straight…

NOW AVAILABLE: For The Living

For The Living is now available from Amber Allure. Additional links will be added here as they are available. And if you'd like a little nibble of the story, For The Living is my Six Sentence Sunday story this week.

For the last year, Jay Warren has struggled to find the nerve to tell his wife he’s gay. He’s ashamed of hiding it all this time and he doesn’t want to hurt her, so every time he gets the chance to tell her, he freezes up. The guilt has been almost unbearable, but when his wife dies suddenly, Jay’s conscience threatens to eat him alive.

Funeral director Scott Lawson deals with the bereaved every day of his life, and he’s also all too familiar with the inside of the closet. He offers Jay some much-needed compassion and understanding, and from that connection comes a friendship that quickly—perhaps too quickly—turns into something more.

But are grief, guilt, and loneliness the only things tying them together? Or will Scott get tired of being used as an emotional crutch before Jay realizes what he has?

Also, I'm excited to announce that Reconstructing Meredith is a finalist for the National Leather Association's Pauline Reage Novel Award! The award will be announced in early May - fingers crossed, but I'm thrilled just to be a finalist!

Announcement: Joining Forces with Another Author

Now that all the paperwork is signed, sealed, and delivered, I don't have to keep this quite as far under wraps. Which is good, because when I'm excited about something, it's hard to keep it quiet.

So, without further ado...

Fellow author Marie Sexton and I are now working together on a joint project. Other authors may join us later, but for the time being, it's the two of us. The series of loosely interconnected contemporary stories will revolve around the fictional Colorado town of Tucker Springs. I'm writing the first book in the series, Marie is working on the second, etc., and Book #1 is scheduled to be released in the next few months by Amber Quill Press.

Keep an eye on my blog and Marie's for updates -- cover art, blurbs, and release dates should be coming down the pipe in the near future!

NOW AVAILABLE: Changing Plans

The Changing Plans trilogy is now available in paperback! This is the combined edition of Getting off the Ground, Infinity Pools, and On the List.

After being stood up at the altar, compulsive over-planner Elliott Chandler decides to turn their honeymoon on Oahu into a vacation for one. Fate puts a hitch in his plans, however, when the airport is snowed in and his flight is delayed.

In the airport, the jilted groom catches the eye of another stranded traveler: the laidback and very sexy Derek Windsor. Derek breaks the ice and strikes up a conversation, and as the temperature drops outside, the heat between them rises. Pity they’re both going to different islands, but if their flight doesn’t leave soon, Mr. Calm-and-Cool may just tempt Mr. Play-It-Safe to do something reckless.

And that plane isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

NOW AVAILABLE: Ex Equals

Ex Equals is now available from Amber Allure. Additional links will be posted here and on my website as they are available.
On the first day of his new career as a community college math teacher, Chris Reuben gets an unexpected—and most unwelcome—blast from the past: one of his students is his former navy shipmate...and ex-boyfriend.

Justin Hayes isn’t after a second chance when he signs up for an algebra class taught by his ex. All he wants besides a passing grade is a chance to make amends with the man he loved and hurt while they were deployed together three years ago.

Pain, guilt, and bitterness aren’t the only lingering feelings, though, and even if three years is enough to melt the ice between them, they’ve already risked their careers for each other once. Can Justin convince Chris that what they once had is worth putting careers and hearts on the line again?

NOW AVAILABLE: On The List

Book #3 of the Changing Plans series, On The List, is now available from Amber Allure. Additional links to come. (Also available: books #1 and #2 -- Getting off the Ground and Infinity Pools)

(Contains SPOILERS for books #1 and #2!)

In spite of swearing up and down he’s a bachelor forever, Derek Windsor is ready to settle down with Elliott Chandler. After a long distance relationship and a few months of wedding planning, it all comes down to this weekend: a wedding on the Washington coast, then they can start their life together on Maui.

But with the ceremony just days away, Derek’s family drops the bomb: they aren’t coming. They refuse to support or be a part of his marriage to another man. All his life, he’s ached for his parents’ approval, and their last-minute wedding snub leaves him reeling. Though he doesn’t question his love for Elliott, can Derek still go through with a wedding that could irreparably sever his relationship with his family?

Six Sentence Sunday - On The List

Six Sentence Sunday is back for more...

This week, from L. A. Witt, a nibble of On The List, which comes out today from Amber Allure. This is the third and final book in the Changing Plans series (the previous books are Getting off the Ground and Infinity Pools).

Derek's parents have dropped the bomb that they're not coming to his and Elliott's wedding:

If anything, instead of bringing him into the family, tomorrow would signify a greater divide between them and me. Like I was marrying out of my own family.

I wanted to tell myself I’d never have second thoughts about marrying Elliott, but here I was, in the eleventh hour, with the reality of my parents’ rejection sinking in fast. It shouldn’t have mattered—these were their issues, not mine—but it did. It mattered, and it hurt.

Here it was, the night before the wedding I never thought I’d have, and I’d never felt more alone in my life.

NOW AVAILABLE: Static

I can't even tell you how excited I am about this one...Static is now available from Amber Allure! I'll be adding third party sites to my website as they're available.

Damon Bryce is worried sick when he doesn’t hear from his girlfriend after she visits her estranged parents, but when he checks up on her, he’s in for the shock of his life: She’s a shifter, part of a small percentage of the population who can shift genders at will. Thanks to her parents, though, she’s been forcibly given an implant that leaves her static—unable to shift—and male.

Alex Nichols desperately wants the implant removed, but getting it out isn’t nearly as easy as putting it in. The surgery is expensive and dangerous. Left in, the implant carries its own set of risks, with the potential to cripple or even kill him. On top of that, he’s carefully kept his identity a secret from more people in his life than just Damon, and his parents aren’t the only ones appalled by shifters.

Stripped of half his identity and facing serious physical effects and social ramifications, Alex needs Damon more than ever, but he doesn’t see how their relationship can get through this unscathed.

Especially if Alex is a static male permanently.

"I can’t think of a novel more relevant to the current struggles with acceptance in our society—ranging from gay people to transsexual folks to people of different races, cultures, creeds; it’s surprisingly uplifting [...] I recommend it to anyone who’s ever felt like they weren’t accepted for who they are. That’s all of us, isn’t it?"

NOW AVAILABLE: Infinity Pools

Infinity Pools is now available from Amber Allure!
SEQUEL TO GETTING OFF THE GROUND

It started with a snowstorm and ended with a sizzling one-night-stand, but neither man is ready for it to be over.

Jilted groom Elliott Chandler doesn’t do “last minute” or “impulsive,” but at the very last minute, he impulsively changes his flight from Oahu to Maui. What was supposed to be his honeymoon turned into two weeks with a man he just met.

Derek Windsor is all about “last minute” and “impulsive,” but what he doesn’t do is fall in love. He’s a happily promiscuous bachelor and that’s final.

They thought one night together wasn’t enough. Two weeks is going to be more than they bargained for…

Now available from Amber Allure.

Six Sentence Sunday

Another contribution to the Six Sentence Sunday shenanigans...

This week, I'm taking one from Infinity Pools, my newest release from Amber Allure:

Jesus. Forty-eight hours ago, I was still in shock from my fiancĂ© bailing on our wedding. Twenty-four hours ago, I was snowbound and stranded, wondering if I’d ever make it to Oahu. This morning, I was in bed with Derek.

And now?

Now this.

(If by chance you're interested in winning a copy of Infinity Pools and its prequel, Getting off the Ground, check out my Ridiculously Easy Contest(tm), answer a question, and you're entered. Winner will be drawn May 5, 2011.)

Ridiculously Easy Contest #2 - Two books/One winner

I've got another new release coming up in the next few days, so it's time for another Ridiculously Easy Contest(tm)!

Want to win a free book? Of course you do. Who doesn't? In fact, I'm going to let you win two books because that's how I roll. And since I like things simple, we're going to keep this uber-simple. Answer a question, win a book. That's it.

HOW TO WIN: Leave a comment with an answer to the poll question.

WINNERS WILL BE DRAWN: May 5, 2011

THE PRIZE: An electronic copy of Infinity Pools, my new release from Amber Allure, which comes out on May 1. And since it's the sequel to Getting off the Ground, what fun would it be if I didn't include that book too?
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

If there are at least 15 legitimate, non-anonymous responses to the question, I will also draw a name for a signed paperback copy of your choice from my print backlist (OR) a signed copy of Changing Plans, which is the paperback edition of both Getting off the Ground and Infinity Pools. This edition will be out sometime in June, so be aware that if you choose that book, it'll be a month or two before it reaches you.

(note on anonymous posts: I don't mind anonymous settings, but there needs to be a name in the text of the comment at least!)

THE QUESTION:

How many roads must a man walk down-- wait, sorry.

Okay, the real question:

What is your favorite romance subgenre?
(BDSM? Fantasy? Suspense/Thrillers? Or...?)

See? Told you it was easy.

Want to be notified of future stupidly easy and ridiculously simple contests? Join my Yahoo Group.

Winners will be randomly drawn and posted on May 5, 2011, and have 72 hours to contact me to claim their prize.

Good luck!
